The forecast telemetry is powered by the global Weather Underground / Meteorological Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) framework, integrating real-time telemetry from multiple observational tiers:
- Personal Weather Station (PWS) Network: Integrates ground-level telemetry from tens of thousands of automated weather stations worldwide, providing hyper-local micro-climate readings across diverse Philippine terrain (mountain ranges like Benguet/Ifugao to coastal zones like Batangas/Palawan).
- Doppler Radar & Satellite Assimilation: Feeds satellite infrared/visible radiometry and regional radar data into high-resolution GFS/ECMWF atmospheric models.
- Continuous Model Runs: Forecast vectors are recalculated on 3-hour cycles to capture shifting monsoon troughs (Habagat/Amihan), shear lines, and localized convective thunderstorm cells.
LIGTAS-AGAD executes an automated data extraction and aggregation pipeline to convert raw 3-hourly coordinate data points into actionable daily early-warning metrics:
The interactive map dynamically projects warning circles over monitoring stations based on cumulative rainfall risk guidelines adapted from PAGASA (Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration):
- đ´ Red Alert (> 30 mm): Torrential rainfall â Severe risk of flash floods, river overflows, and rain-induced landslides. Immediate community response readiness.
- đ Orange Alert (15 â 30 mm): Intense rainfall â Flooding is threatening in low-lying areas. Preparedness protocols activated.
- đĄ Yellow Alert (7.5 â 15 mm): Heavy rainfall â Flooding possible in flood-prone communities. Continuous monitoring advised.
